Collaborative Consulates for Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh by Peter Kuelbs

44 West Congress Parkway is located on the south edge of Chicago's
"Loop," an undeveloped site left over from the widening of Congress
Street as a feeder to Interstate-80, the Eisenhower Expressway.
Measuring only 67 feet by 19 feet, this postage stamp-sized plot of land
has evaded development since the 1960s. However, soaring land values in
the South Loop neighborhood suggest that it may not remain vacant for
long. This project explores the site's potential by providing a cluster
of foreign consulates for Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
The
form of the building was derived from two concepts: those being
traditional regional temple design and the motion of a rock climber
repelling down the faceof a cliff.
